Lending Room Poster

Lending Room Poster
This poster was a result of the Lending Room asking if they could use my artwork to create a poster. We had just had a lecture of copy right and I decided that I would reply saying that I would like to create the poster. I thought maybe there would be more collaboration but the guy just sent me the details and told me to look at other posters made by their promotion team. Therefore there would be consitancy.
I wanted to create something which furthered the band identity I am trying to create through art work. I drew upon the continuous black and white faces I had created before and the colours from the album artwork. I also think it works well because although it is illustrated it looks a bit like a crowd with some faces in the spotlight.
At this gig I also went a bit multi media and created a face on the back of the bass. It was interesting having to turn a something with straight lines into something curved

My first idea was to use the colours but decided that this was too trippy for a poster and wasnt very clear because there was too much colour going on
I then started to experiment with more limited colours, using white to contrast the black

I then replaced the white with purple but the image seemed to cold so I decided to alter the colours to warmer purple and yellow

This was the final poster I submitted but before I did this I sent a picture to my band for feedback. They noticed that I had the date wrong which I hadnt even noticed because I had been working on it for so long so that shows the importance of proof reading.
It was very exciting seeing my poster up on the wall and yes I did steal one... It looked really cool next to all of the other posters and the crowd at the gig seemed to notice and like it! It it very striking at how simple the image is.

We decided that at the gig we should network and give out a free CD to the audience. It cost around £20 to make but we easily earned that out at the gig so it was worth it :) It is interesting how this links to my COP because lots of people don't have CD Players anymore but there is still the aura of collecting items, possessions, memorabilia...especially as they were made as a small edition, Baudrillard thinks that this makes things more valuable.

This is our iconic image which we have used for spotify and therefore should be our front cover for the cd, especially as it links to Pandoras Box song which seems to be the audiences favourites.

I colour picked the purple and the yellow from the colours of the spray cans to try and keep consistency. The yellow and the purple of the Singles covers were different and clashed.

I then thought that the yellow might have been too deep and so thought maybe white would pick it out. I also decided that the whole cover looked too much like a powerpoint presentation.

After getting feedback and collaborating with my band members I changed the font to something more similar to the title font. I then colour picked the the purples and yellows from the thumbnails and got rid of some of the clutter. I wanted to keep the back looking like the singles thumbnails, using the positive and negative space of the purple and yellow.
