Earresistible Podcast website logo
I got asked by a close one to create a logo for a Audio Engineer podcast website that he is setting up. I struggle with simplicity, its always been a challenge for me so I thought this could be a good thing to create. We also had a lot of fun thinking up the name (I love a good play on words)
He sent me a few ideas
I sent a few roughs back (also just realising now that I cant spell)
Then he said that he wanted it very simple not so colourful (the colour of his webpage -white and teal) and gave me this image as a "mood board"
I hit Illustrator straight away (which I am almost coming to grips with) and create a few designs. I also found the same font as his type on his website to keep everything neat and tidy. I also gave him inverted options of the same image so that he could try out what he thinks would look best in context.
I thought that this one was too cliche and looked a bit shit
I personally like this one a lot, possible because I am a very analogue person
I think this one works the best for what his website is about and is very strikingly simple

Fencing Sketches
Fencing sketches - Sabre
I went to watch my sister fencing tournament yesterday. I was very intrigued by the body language of the fencers (their turn out and lunges but also who was dominant in the fight). The rules are far to complicated to pick up but I got a gist of how it works and wanted to try and capture the movement and body language.
I brought my sketchbook along and tried to capture the fights of the competition. There was so much going on in such a short space of time. The fights were all Sabre which is a very explosive and aggressive "sword" which make it virtually impossible to capture. As sooon as you get the legs down, they are back in the engarde stance and then you try and capture the body and they are shaking hands!
Although the drawings aren't brilliant it was a very interesting study of the human form in turn out, trying to focus on which muscles were actually in use!
I didn't feel content and was still very inspired so I came back and drew up a few photos that I sneakily took. I was still trying to think about the movement and who was attacking and who was retreating in the fights.
I sent these drawings off to the organiser of the fencing club and they wanted to use the drawings on their online media... perhaps this is a niche I should continue with (I really enjoy it)
